Need more information.
1. Does it run now?
2. Is it running when you hear the horrible noise?

Perhaps it is your starter solenoid? Hard to tell.

That's really not enough information for us to go on. What kind of noise does it make? What are all the symptoms of the car? etc. etc. I'd give some additional information and someone can pinpoint your problem. Best wishes.

Goto Autozone and have them scan it for free. It could be a whole host of things, if you know what the CEL code is it's easier to diagnose.

Did you run out of oil or overheat it?

if you overheated it you probably warped the head
