In former days, people didn't even leave town their entire lives - no roads, no cars, certainly no airplanes. To go 100 miles would take days if you walked, less if you had a horse.

And even these days, you have to go very far from any one place before there is any real change.

So it is not really sad, just normal. People who can afford to do a lot of travel should think about how fortunate they are to be able to indulge their interests.

Many people don't really have a need or an interest in running around, they like staying put. You would think it odd for one of these people to say of you, "Poor thing, always having to go far from home, so sad."

Not necessarily. I can see the value in living with strong family ties and life-long friends. Life that is peaceful and simple can be a fortunate life, I think. Some people need adventure, and choose move for work or love or other reasons, and might agree with you, and that is fine. Maybe some people move to have a better life or because they can't stay in their home area, and that is different again too. They say travelling broadens your horizons, but I think you don't have to travel to avoid being narrow-minded. It might be cliche, but life can be what you make it, or what you bring to it - whether it be the same place all your life, or moving around.

The majority of the people born in the U.S. live within 50 miles of where they were born.

They think that it is sad that so many others have relocated.

Is this a question or did you just want agreement with your opinion?

Why would it be sad? I guess you didn't like where you were raised or are currently living much. That's your problem, not everyone elses.

Not at all..

If that's what makes them happy. Being around friends and family and familiar things.

Not everyone can live the life of a vagabond, ceratinly not me!!

I don't understand why you think that is sad. Some people are very happy with where they are raised up.

No. Why should that be necessarily sad? Some would find that quaint or endearing.
