My son's unit stopped a suicide bomber today. They took the bomber into custody and are still dealing with a dumptruck filled with 8000 pounds of explosives. They have tried to get news coverage of this. But so far noone will....What gives? Our brave soldiers do good and it's not reported!!!! Surprise! Surprise!

My son is able to call every day unless htey are on a blackout...blackouts occur when someone from their unit has been hurt or injured ( until the family has been notified noone calls or emails)

The liberal media is against our troops and any progress made in this war. They will ignore it. If they don't have bad news to share then...How's Paris Hilton doing? It is really sickening.

ma'm...with all due respect. i'm glad that your son was able to do his part. what he did was great, but there are many others that has done similar if not more stuff that is also not getting the media attention. the media is all in a view of one person and is filtered through their higher ups. everyone that puts their lives on the line for us back home is a hero...some just have more combat times than others. the media won't always report everything and as long as your son knows that what he did was great then that should be good enough.

it surprised me though that your son was able to give out info like he did and that the unit tried to get attention for this. my husband is army. never heard of his unit searching for media right after a mission. nor would he tell me everything because of classification. everyone including family was instructed not to talk to the media because it could put people in harms way. maybe things have changed since my husband's last deployment...then again he just got back a few months ago.

I know people's son's in the military and they aren't allowed to call everyday. They get to call home about once a week. What gives?
I'm sure the embedded media only reports what the military wants them to report. That's how this war was run since the beginning. BTW, there has been lots of reports of good things the soldiers have done. But we should always know when harm comes their way too. The fact that the military admitted that they only have control of a quarter of Baghdad was something that wasn't widely reported either. Lots of stuff doesn't go reported and we don't always get to hear all the bad stuff that goes down either. There are days when there is no reporting of anything good or bad. So, to say that the media only reports the bad, isn't correct either. The major corporations will tell you what they want you to hear.

I'm going to take a guess that because they are still in the process of handling the situation that the military might be preventing the media from reporting or even knowing about it.

Since when does the news report real news? They are more interested in Paris Hilton being sent back to jail than our troops doing a great job and putting themselves in danger. They would only report it if the other side had a few injuries or they had something negative to say about our brave men and women. The news is a joke and biased. They cater to a dummied down society, which is exactly what the government wants. They dont want us, the american people, informed.

The media reports what they want to report for their own agenda, and twist the news to fit that agenda.

At any rate, I'm glad to hear about the stop, and the fact that those 8000 lbs. of explosives won't be used to murder American soldiers.

What sells the news? Bad stories do. Why do you think we hear about worthless crap like Paris Hilton going to jail or the President getting a BJ in the Oval Office (referring to President Clinton). It sells and entices people to watch more. Unfortunately, good stories like this don't sell the news as well.

Your son is a courageous hero and deserves to be recognized for his actions.
Unfortunately, this isn't 'newsworthy' in the conservative-biased media which doesn't want to spread "good news" about the war. Cretins like Rush Limbaugh only prefer to spread the hatred, bias, bigotry and distortions that help them mold the minds of those listeners whom they've already brainwashed. Just as the Nazi propagandists only 'reported' news that fit their agenda, the conservative media only uses stories that can twist the truth, generate more hatred and violence, and create more division among the citizens of our country.
Best wishes to your son and his unit for their courageous acts of heroism. I've forwarded this on to several major news outlets (but I doubt they'll follow up). -RKO- 06/10/07

The media is controlled by the left. Its not surprising. G.W. B. isnt as bad as they let on. He is pretty bad though, but then again so is Michael Moore
