The local town police or town council often runs a site like that and of course does not charge for access. The national ones with all the publicity are usually incomplete which makes them worthless. You could also ask a Realtor what they know about any local sex offenders if you are planning to move into a neighborhood. They most likely know because they are afraid of being sued for not disclosing that info to a buyer.

You can check with your state listings because most states have web sites that list sex offenders. I hope You will not be dumb enough to fee protected because you know sex offenders living in Your area. Most people need to worry about the perverts that they know but are not aware of the secrets. That includes relatives and close friends. Best to teach Your children that No one has a right to their private areas or to take them anyplace unless You or Your mate approve in person. Never take strangers or anyone words that Parents aid they could go with them.

The 2nd and 3rd people who posted are correct. You can also go to Department of Public Safety in your state, it is free, so do not let anyone con you out of money to find this, just log on , follow directions and you will find what your looking for. All sex offender sites are free.

Type in the name of your city under yahoo search and type in sex offender list or something similar to that. You should be able to find something. Or try your local police website. You will be surprised how many are going to be near you! It's kind of disturbing.

Each state has it's own registry of sex offenders... typically run through the State Attorney General's office... Check their website, then click through to the registry... and follow their directions. In CA, you can click on a statewide map to identify your county of residence.. and it shows you who's registered in your county, complete with addresses.

My friend showed me one site at school, I can't think of it. I know one called familywatchdog.us. That works, its free, and quick. No scam. It's good to know. Another cool thing about this site is that you can click on their dot, and their picture comes up, with all of their information, from the crime to their aliases. Everything is on there.
