Yes I have on two different occasions! Once when I was going to work about 6:00 in the morning, and I stopped and waited for a bus. After the bus went on a deer shot across the road and hit my car. It did a little damage to the front of the car. The second occasion I was coming home from work and I was coming across slowly from the railroad tracks and this deer came across and hit the side of my car. Needless to say I am a little jittery about deer.

Have not hunted in Okefenokee, but live in North Georgia Mountains where Black Bear is rather common. Black Bear are not as aggressive as their cousins the Grizzly or Polar. Like deer, when a Black Bear sees, smells, or hears you it will most likely go the other way. However, any mother Bear will defend her cubs so you need to be careful and keep your distance from a sow with cubs. Also, most animals will defend themselves anyway possible when cornered or injured. Bears just have more means to do that so do not approach until you are sure the animal is dead. The 30-06 or .270 should do the job. I personally use the 7mm mag. The only bear attach I have heard of happened within the past 2 years to a little girl in Tennessee. Sadly, she lost her life. I do not know the circumstances. Unfortunately, we have people that feed the bears in our area. This is just asking for trouble. Although bear attacks are very rare, it can happen so always be on your toes and don't take unnecessary changes.

I hit one in an 18 wheeler. It did over $5000 in damage.
And once a deer was running across the road when I was passing by and hit me. There was no damage to the truck but I hated seeing both animals get killed.

I have hit two. One was many years ago on Interstate 5 in Oregon and the other was in Idaho where I had driven 20 miles in deer country with no problem but when I got into town I hit one. He was committing suicide. When I took my car in for repairs they asked me if the other party had insurance!!!

Yes I did on the way to work, I was going slow though since it was snowy and icy outside and one jumped across so I slowed a bit more and then a second jumped in front and clipped the passenger corner of my hood. I think it was ok I didn't see it after but I had a nice big dinted in hood and light. Couldn't get my hood open after that till I got it fixed.

I hit one going 90mph and I ended up spinning about 5 full times into the grass on the side of the highway. Lucky to be alive...watch out for those things.
