If you purchase a G router it will also work with B wireless adapters. They are compatable, but the B will only work at 11Mb/s and the G will work at 54Mb/s.

Now the Linksys you would want is:

I really prefer to recommend D-Link products to first time wireless buyers as I feel they are more user friendly in setting them up, so just in case Ill recommend the following D-Links also.

Your computer is compatible with B,G,and even N. It is not compatible with A which is on a different frequency than B,G and N.

I would get a good G router for the speed since you already have that on your laptop. USB G adapters are available for your desktop for around 30.00 us.

You can use nearly any brand -- linksys is ok, as is dlink, or my favorite.. Buffalo Technologies!

You don't want to go with a B router, they are slow. When your laptop says it's b/g it means that it is compatible with either b or g routers.

For the money any linksys G router will work out fine for you.
