i just bought a freshwater barracuda, and it will be shipped to me in about a week. i was wondering what a good food is to feed it. will they mix well with jack dempseys? thank you

To be totally honest those are two questions you should have asked before you bought the fish. They eat other fish and usually nothing else at all. Assuming your FWB is large it should be ok with the Jacks provided the tank is quite large. Here's a nice article about them
