What was the estimated gas price when you started driving?

It was 98 cents a gallon. I remember when it went over a dollar and everyone said it would never be less than a dollar again. $1.05 seemed like a high gas price back then.
When I was a senior in high school, a town about 30 miles away had two gas stations that were doing a gas war, at the peek gas was 72 cents a gallon. I use to drive there and fill up every week, and fill up a few 5 gallon cans too. Man how I wish gas was still that cheap.

On average about 89 cents but I remember
less than 75 cents as a kid.
and no I`m not that old I`m 40

When I started driving in 1978 it was around .50 to .75 cents a gal.
Then we were lucky to have carter screw up the works.

about 8 years ago when i started driving it was between 1.00$ and 1.20$ ...what a differnce 8 years made, imagine how much gas will be in another 5-10 years. :-(

14 years ago on NC it was around $1.00. I had a little Ford EXP and it would hold about $10.00 tops. Man those were the days.

around $1.69 when I started driving. I remember very very faintly, in the early 90's when I was like 4 it being $.99.....wow.....

Back in the mid 70s, it was about 95 cents a gallon (& people were SCREAMING about how high it was!!!). :)
