Thanks

This is a philosophical question based on the idea of absurdity.

Life is pointless, repetitive struggle. Every thing one does, is pointless.
Why? Well, even if the rest of humanity gives us the greatest recognition possible, I guess that'd be fame, cash, power, for whatever accomplishment of ours, what does that really matter? In a few years, decades, centuries, it will all be wiped out. Everyone we know, or knows of us, won't even be around. There will be other people to fuss about.

Even the funnest thing, like partying, or falling in love, is always the same, same emotions, same situation, samey same over and over. Getting drunk...whoa, blimey, there's a scoop. We all know what it's like to be drunk. It's like repeating the same motions, for what?

Or the other main one: having children. Popping out lots of mini-me to keep our own gene pool going. Why is that any good? Because life is sacred? If it's so sacred, how comes that we have no problems ending it everywhere? Or maybe because we are such amazingly great people, we're doing the world a favour to put our own children on the streets. All of us, so grand. If we're all so great, where do all the criminal lunatics come from?

Without considering this: aren't all children equally worth of care and nurturing? Why only yours are so special? There you go, selfishness. But then, if someone mentions suicide, they are called the selfish ones. You shouldn't kill yourself because it hurts others. Who, exactly, is left unanswered. That basically means: its wrong to think you're worth anything, think of others. But if you're not worth a thought, not even a thought from your own self, why should you live?

Life in the human world is totally absurd, hypocritical and frankly disgusting. The only way to go through it with a big dumb smile is to be a total idiot, unaware of anything at all. Brainwashed from birth to repeat the same frases like they actually answer anything, like "do it for the children" or "life is sacred". If its sacred, why do people die? Who is life sacred for?

There is no freedom, all people are good for is judge others in a negative way, be nasty, and wanting everyone to be exatly the same as themselves. Or be judged negatively.

A panic ensues over one child gone missing. In some nations, right now, children are blown apart daily, sold into prostitution at the age of 5, bought as spare organs, and nobody even gives it a second thought. Who cares, life's beautiful. We steal, pillage, starve the third world, then send them a cheque, do anything for money, including destroying the same planet that gave us life. Who cares, there's always the moon to colonize.

We have no sympathy for all living creature that grace the planet apart from ourselves, animals are killed and tortured as a matter of course, not a second's hesitation. It's all about us. In fact, if the animal is our pet, then they can't be killed. But sod the rest, who cares about them?

The whole human race is so deeply evil that the question is how can we actually find the nerve to survive and have a shadow of dignity left. Murdering the innocent and feasting on its flesh is nothing more than perfectly normal to the human race, although, as the total hypocrites that we are, we actually pretend that we're soooo nice, hiding behind religions and butchering away, turning our heads, saying that oh, no, we're not doing it for ourselves. We're doing it for the others. We're doing it for our children. We don't care for anything but ourselves. And the kids, of course, the mini-me. That's a main feature of being human.

People die of starvation everyday. Animals are tortured for fun, war rages, everything and everyone crumbles under sadness and despair, even if they frantically try to prove the contrary by being blabbering nitwits and pretending everything is such great fun. And send a cheque now and then, to charity of curse, not too much, just to keep thinking we're sooo good.

We cannot possibly make a real difference to anything. Even saving lives, is it that really any good? Can we save all lives? Why are we going to save only few? On what basis would a choice of which lives to save be fair? Is the planet really in need of more humans hopping about destroying everything in their path? No. Not really.

Let's see about the second part of your question.
Suicide is effort. It's potentially painful and pointless, as we will all die anyway. So what's the rush? Just wait and die later. That's the one thing you're guaranteed.

Besides, the firm point of all logic is that we might be wrong all along. Totally wrong, in everything, logic included. Logic could be a fickle bauble of our imaginations, and in time it could come to be considered as nothing more than a pretentious brain fart, thought up by control freaks on a power trip, people who discovered hot water and thought they were god.
Two hundred years ago people thought they were so genial, now we think of them as backwards so-and-so in funny wigs.

So, we are busy, idiotic self-absorbed and hypocritical meat robots, stuck with living.

That conclusion can only be based on history and the present, you do not know what tomorrow may bring therefore it is an invalid conclusion if you are taking any future events into the equation. Since you cannot take future events in the equation then life can only be meaningless for the now.
To commit suicide involves the future even if it's just the near future, i.e, hours or days ahead. You may presume that your life will not change in the near future, but since suicide is a fact, then the presumption is too weak to override a fact.
So life could be meaningless for the now, but because of the uncertainly of the actual future, rather than a perceived future, it would be illogical to commit suicide for an event that has not happened.

This is such a deep philosophical question which I think stemmed from a recent disappointment in your life. I reach this conclusion every time I hit a snag in my life because of my frustration. It is so easy to think about ending one's life at the height of a sad emotion. But the only thing that kept me from executing that thought is my Catholic upbringing and the values that my family and environment afforded me. All I can say is that if my Maker takes my life right now I would be ready to go because I tried to live a life that is less prone to regrets. I try to do well with everyone and anyone I meet. I always think about the legacy that I would be leaving and that keeps me focused.

You can logically reach the conclusion that life is no longer worth living for yourself but still not be able to do the deed. Wether its cos of deep seated religious beliefs, or fear of the unknown or because you know the hurt it will inflict on those left behind. Suicide is not always about despair, it can sometimes be a positive choice (in the case of terminal illness and wishing to have the choice of when to die).

Having people around you that you love and that you want to spend time with and make happy - especially if you have children then you have a responsibility to bring them up.

Otherwise, yeah, life is pretty meaningless. People have got the focus all wrong; obsessed with owning things, and mortagaging everything to own a house. By the time you've paid it off you don't have much time left anyway!

Use your life to genuinely be a good person, to make people happy, to experience things and do things that really mean something to you. There's no reward when you die for owning a big house, a nice car or having a million in the bank. No one pats you on the back for working fifty years in a job that you hated. Use life for EXPERIENCE and don't take anything too seriously...then I think of it as a fun and rewarding life as opposed to something that means something.

Of course you Can logically reach that decision. If life becomes nothing but pain and you are getting absolutely no happiness from being alive. That might sound very selfish to someone fighting a terminal illness or a disability but everyone is different and we all have the right to make our own choices.I reached the same conclusion many years ago , now i have a daughter who needs me. Dosent make things any easier, just know that i have no choice but to carry on. Good luck. xxxxxx

Surely. All you need is a set of premises that can possibly lead to that conclusion.

The problem is that a logical conclusion has no compelling force.

Example: I accept that 'the existence of cassowaries in New Guinea renders life so miserable that life is not worth living.' My enemy informs me that 'Hey, they got cassowaries in New Guinea.' Suspicious, I impeach the assertion, but find that it is a substantiated claim.

Now what? The logical conclusion is inescapable, of course. But I am not obliged to suck up a hemlock Slurpee.

So, there I am, with an indisputable logical conclusion--and a very nice lime Slurpee. My enemy is disappointed, and I bask in logically miserable sunshine.

yes, you can. when your best friend tells you she hates you, your bf/gf dumps you, your mother refuses to get you therapy because it "costs too much" when you so clearly need it, and you are failing a class and doing terribly in all the rest when you used to be a straight-a student, you begin to think that there is no longer a point to what you do. you think that you are a waste of space and your community is better off without you.

this is never true.

what keeps a person like this from suicide is someone telling them that they care and that things will get better. you kinda have to reach the point of understanding that there are other people in the world and whatever you do affects them, good or bad. then you have to realize that your life does have a meaning because you have an able body that can help other people who are phyiscally worse off than you.

if someone you know feels like this RED FLAG, give them a bear hug and say that you care. and if you feel like this, then i am sure that someone out there loves you and does care, you just have to try your hardest to open up and let them in.

You conclusion of life being meaningless has no bearing on the question of your suicide. For suicide it must be determined that the best course of action is for you to end your life regardless of the reason.

Yes you can. Definately, i've came to that conclusion many times. Well, if you think about it, noone really knows whats going to be after death. It's not "death" that people are scared of, it's what's coming after that. Noone can know. It could be paradise, it could be hell, or it could be complete and utter nothingness. So, why kill yourself, if there's a chance that the situation you are going to be in is worse off than what you're in now? Why not try harder until your time comes to find a meaning and purpose, because that, my friend is the meaning and purpose of life, the pursuit of happiness, and finding a meaning to live.

The answer to your question is a big NO. No you could not come to a logical conclusion that life is not worth living.

1. Ending a life means ending it all, period, nothing more nothing less. How can that be logical to end something that is not supposed to end yet? Ending means “The End”, there is no reversing or rewinding on that.

2. Life will always have tragedies but it would not give much credence for a logical reason of ending it at all. Wouldn't it be boring if you will not have losses, problems and disappointments in life? Because of these things we learn to appreciate the opposite that life or living gives (as long as they are morally acceptable, just and fair) such as - happiness, family, children, friends, money, and food, everything that makes us feel good about this life.

3. It is not called life for no reason at all. Life means alive and you have to live it. Life at some point will always be hard, but life is such so good than death at all. Especially that death could not give you certainty of what it is to be actually be dead. (But your belief and faith in the after life will surely change your views on this) Just don't forget that you have no right to take away your given life, given? It is not actually yours, it is given to you by a Supreme Being which in turn decides when to take away that life but one very good thing that came along that life is Freedom.

You have to be thankful for such complexity of our human brain, and the freedom that God has given to us is such so beneficial but at the same time damaging, depending on how we use them. If you end life now, you would no longer enjoy what life can give. But if you continue to live, life will show you so many things that you could really appreciate much better than death, death on the other hand, will in turn could not show you anything since you will be dead, and the uncertainty that comes along with death is pretty scary.

4. Life is an Adventure. Don't you wonder why people strive for excellence in everything that they do? Because they wanted to be the best, they wanted to achieve more, and to be successful. But failure always comes, and because of failures we learn to live a life, where we learn to only live, up to our capacity, talent, skills, and resources and eventually we achieve happiness - it's called living within your means, and we no longer thought of death as the ultimate solution to problems. LIFE is worth living, no matter what, because life is an adventure and a journey, you don't know what lies ahead.

Continue living until the final curtain falls on its own (actually pulled by God).
