C and D are not classes of molluscs, or indeed any living thing.

Cephalopods (eg octopus, squid) have been more diverse in the past than they are now, before the extinction of ammonites and belemnites. There are between 1000 and 1200 described extant (not extinct) species.

"Cephalopod" literally means "head foot".

Gastropods (slugs, snails) are the only class of molluscs that include terrestrial species. There are between 60,000 and 75,000 described extant species.

"Gastropod" literally means "stomach foot".

Gastropoda, the largest molluscan class, with 75 000 living and about 15 000 fossil species, includes some of the most common invertebrates: limpets, abalones, PERIWINKLES, conchs, WHELKS, SLUGS and snails.
