My Ex-roommates moved out and out of town they said that they would come get there stuff and they have been intown twice. How long do I have to keep it or what can I dont before I can get rid of it

Send them a letter stating that you will be donating their things to charity on such and such a date. It's best to send a letter with the option that requires a signature showing the person received it.

Keep a copy of the letter.

Make sure you give them a reasonable amount of time. I would say one month.

If they try to take you to court, you would at least have something in writing communicating what was going on.

i have had that happen to me a couple of times. i of course changed locks immediately.after 30 days i put stuff outside under a tarp,to protect it from the elements.if not picked up after 30 more days i donated it to a local charity.if you cannot leave outside safely, leave a note posted on your door that they must get stuff in 30 days or it will be donated.and of course date it. i hope this has been help full.

i THINK its 6 months but i could be wrong. go and check your local renters union.
