There can be many reasons for cloudy water:
1. Overfeeding
2. amonia level, get a amonia test kit
3. When you do change water, only 20% of it, and don't forget to put Aqua Safe in it.
4. Put once a week Aqua Safe in your water as directed
5. You can also try a Water Clarifier, always helps, if you don't overfeed your fish
6. Keep cleaner fish in it like a peco...., don't know the exact name, but I have 3 of them in mine
7. Keep your filter clean at all times
Good luck
I haven't cleaned my tanks I think in about 3 months now, and I haven't even made a partial waterchange. Only cleaning the filters every 3-6 weeks, and filling up the missing water once a month, ( i always keep the water at the same level)

Two things lead to this. Every time they sell a fish they remove water from the tank. Sometime during the day they fill the tanks back up and that's almost like a daily water change. Better shops will also do a water change every week for each tank.
Second, most shops keep fresh carbon in their tanks. This usually keeps the water perfectly clear.

If you want clean water at home in your aquarium and you dont want to do a waterchange every week, try more aquarium plants! They look pretty and they eat away all the bad stuff in the water.

DO NOT CLEAN THE TANK EVERY WEEK AND CHANGE HALF THE WATER!!!!!!......That will cause more problems with the health of the fish then a dirty tank. Now you should be able to tell when the tank needs to be cleaned and yes usually you take about half of the water out but I find it less stressful on the fish if you take out as little as possible. If your tank is getting really dirty really fast then these are the reasons...1. You are overfeeding your fish ( Its the #1 reason for dirty tanks). 2. You have to many fish in the tank ...rule of thumb is 1 fish per gallon of water. Now if you happen to have a fish that is 12" long then it accounts for more then 1 fish. 3. Not enough filtration....I have found that just underwater gravel filters arent enough....I have a 75 gallon and I have underwater gravel, a side mount whisper filter but a Magnuum tank filter.....4. you also need to get bottom feeder fish who eat waste and excess food and algae eaters, such as snails or a Pleco. I hope this helps a little...... enjoy

I work in the fish department at and pet store, and the tanks are always clear. We do this by scraping algae everyday, using algae destroyer, and weekly water changes. We need to do weekly water changes because the tanks are so overstocked. You should change 25% of the water in your tank once a month so the fish don't get stressed.
