The release notes of Intel's BIOS here does not say anything regarding compatibility w/ Vista:

Perhaps the problem could be w/ your video cards BIOS or the driver for vista.

The reason for this is that you have an onboard Video Chip. When this happens you can assign a certain amount of System RAM to the Video onboard Adapter. When this happens it will usually make the total amount of System RAM as less than total installed RAM. Also the BIOS will let you assign less amount of Stystem RAM to theOnboard Video Chip/ Adapter.

This amount assigned to it normally could not go beyond a certain pre-determined amount or the Display resolution etc will get really bad.

There is nothing much you can do about this. You can maybe increase the amount of total System RAM to the amount of RAM that is required as the base amount (or more) by Vista, then assign more of this RAM to you onboard Video Chip/Adapter.

It is usual to get a keyboard failure blunders while you maintain any key too lengthy at boot. You will have to be utilizing some of the F keys, no longer the DEL key to entry the BIOS menu. Most Dells use F2. Are you getting a immediate in any respect that tells you which of them key to make use of? If no longer then while you do get into BIOS you will have to flip this selection on for long term reference.

the bios shouldnt have anything to do with your video cards ram.
