Like so many things, there are so many variables. Do you mean that anyone at any time in his or her life can walk into an assisted suicide parlor like in the movie "Soylent Green"? I don't agree with that at all. However, if you have a condition or disease for which there is no cure, and you know that you will be in horrible pain at the end, and there is no hope, then yes, I think those people, while they are still in their right mind, should have the ability to ask for assisted suicide. The major problems, though, are hospitals and doctors. If the terminally ill could get assisted suicide, then the hospitals would lose out on millions of dollars for using the machines to keep people artifically alive. The doctors also would lose out on considerable money. So, it will never pass. Doctors don't care how much you suffer as long as they make money from you

I believe assisted suicide should be legal in the entire country including California. I think terminally ill patients have the right to die with dignity. They should not be forced to endure a long, costly and painful illness if they choose not to. Legalized assisted suicide by medical professionals licensed to do so would certainly eliminate the predicament of family members who would otherwise perform a mercy killing and likely end up in jail for doing so. However, there must be controls . The preson must be terminally ill or in a vegetative state from which he or she will not recover. There must be a living will or advance care directive or durable medical power of attorney - or whatever the person's home state requires -to protect the person in the event they are no longer capable of speaking for themselves. There must also be controls to prevent unscrupulous people from using the law to eliminate individuals they don't think should be allowed to live, for example handicapped individuals, elderly people, who although ill, do not wish to terminate their lives, etc.

Yes. Mabye not just in California, but everywhere. You have the right to go when and how you please, and assisted suicide is much safer. Think about it this way. If a quadrapoligic want to die, they cant kill themselves, they're unable to. Shouldn't these people have the same right to die as anyone else?

i think it should be legal!if you have someone you love who has a terminal illness and they are in severe pain, but are too weak to get up and get the things necessary to take their own life, and are begging you to help them,it's a horrible position to be in. the ones who have been there and watched their love one die, suffering, know how this feels.we can put a dog or cat to sleep with out question, but not a member of our family.

Of course. We extend the courtesy of a dignified "painless" death to even our pets...The far right will disagree...But in my opinion, anyone who doesn't agree with an individuals "right to die" shouldn't participate in an assisted suicide...Just as anyone opposed to gay marriage should just decide that they will NOT marry someone of the same gender...ya dig? and I'm straight...

It should be legal everywhere, and not be counted as murder. Why should we have to live through with and watch someone suffering in pain when they're ready to die to begin with? It wouldn't be fair to person dying at most.

Yes, assisted suicide should be legal. Individuals ought to have the right to decide if they want to die and how they want to die.

As hard as i tried, I couldn't come up with a yes or no on this one. I think that if I was unfortunate enough to become so physically disabled that my life, to me, was unbearable and had no quality to it, and I could not physically end it myself, that someone who loved me and was capable of doing it, would be allowed to.
