ticket? Things that make you go hmmm. He must know going into this race that he cannot win the Republican nomination. He steadfastly maintains that he will not run on another ticket. I think that is strange.

Pythagoras, that was my original thought until I heard him state that he would not run on another ticket.

THe only reason that Ron Paul doesn't have a chance is because people aren't awake. Wake the eff up and know whats going on. We are being conditioned on a mass scale.
Paris Hilton isn't news.
Stand up because if you aren't part of the movement, you are resistance
Answers like these are truly depressing because it demonstrates that there are people out there supporting candidates who have no clue about the nomination process.

I really don't think there's a brain cell between him and his campaign managers. But I'm tired of him taking time away from real candidates on the debates. He hasn't got a chance on a Republican ticket.
::::You freaked me out, Vegas. I thought *you* were making the 'wake the eff up" statement. :-)

Ron ran for the presidency on the libertarian ticket several years back. He quickly became aware of how illogical people are when it comes to the vote. As it turns out, most people vote first for the person with the name they like, second for their party ONLY.
As such, Ron realized that there are NOT enough registered libertarians out there to make a difference. He would have to join one of the other two major parties in order to get into office and try to make a difference.
Today, this remains true. I seriously doubt Ron will change parties if he doesnt get the nomination. There just arent enough educated people out there capable of seeing the truth for what it is...and he knows this.

I have to differ with you on that; I believe his chances are better as a Republican. Running as a Libertarian or Independent might be easier to get to the Presidential election but near impossible to win once there.

So what is the big deal he does represent true GOP beliefs lke smaller gov for example plus by him being a republican means he can get in the spotlight more (national debates) also 3rd parties work better for those in elite class like Ross Perot who can afford such publicity!

Because the two big parties have written into law so many hoops to jump through that it is almost impossible for a third party candidate to even get on the ballot.

My guess is that he can get free exposure from televised debates, etc, while he is looking for the Republican nomination. Once he doesn't get it, then he can look at other options.

The overriding question is not why is Ron Paul running as a Republican, but rather why is any Republican bothering to run this election cycle? It is clear that America wants change, and that change will come from the Democratic Party.
