Most likely it was MacKenzie with the glacial acetic acid, which generated the carbon dioxide. Vinegar would have done the same thing, but you'd have needed darn near the entire room full of vinegar to get enough CO2 to asphyxiate the victim.

the volume of the rom is 7' x 7' x 8' = 392 ft³ = 11.1 m³ = 11100 liters

1 mole of gas at STP fills 22.4 liters, so you need 495.5 moles of CO2

You'd need twice that many moles of acetic acid to generate the gas, so you'd need 991 moles of acetic acid, which would be 55 liters of glacial acetic acid! That's a bunch of acid!
