Try lifting up the hood and see if it still has a belt on it,sounds like the belt is broken that drives the alt/power steering pump.

While you're under the hood/bonnet check the engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant level, transmission fluid level, air filter condition, and all the other things you've neglected over the years.

ok... to get this across for you people who asked "what kind of car is it"... it DOES NOT MATTER WHAT KIND OF CAR IT IS ALL CARS HAVE BATTERY TERIMINALS... ok since thats over... first check the terminals and make sure there on good...for you power steering get a bottle of power steering fluid and put it in the plastic contaner under you hood that says power steering fluid... thats it thats all you do...
good luck...

your serpentine belt came off. Check for a bad pully. Try and spin them all but the crank should spin freely when the belt is off. If one doesnt spin then you have to replace it.

If you know how to open the hood, do so and you'll see that your belt is missing or off the pullies.
