I am in complete agreement with you!
Something else I wonder: how can we teach little ones to not solve their problems by hitting yet we turn around and say it's okay to fight/go to war/use WMDs, etc.
I don't think fighting is the way to solve problems.
In war, no one wins and everyone loses.

We will always have war as long as we have limited resources.
Peaceful trade can always occur as long as enough resources are for sale. When a necessary resource is short, those who need it have two choices: die, fight.
Trading won't work because there isn't enough. Taking turns won't work unless it isn't consumable.
On top of that, there are cultures who don't want to trade, don't want peace.
My family fled Islam in the 1950s. We were expecting this war for decades. Islam cannot afford to have any more "freedom" spread through it and still maintain it's hold on it's people. They can't afford to give up now as the whole world is now watching, and they aren't going to get another chance, as a revolution has already begun within it's ranks (you didn't think this was just about WMDs, did you?).
War won't end until we have unlimited land (space travel) and unlimited resources (matter transformation).

Yes I suppose that it is possible that at some point the human race will grow up, throw away superstitions and hate, and give up war. That will be a wonderful day. However, until then there is no real response to someone who is coming to kill you other than to try to kill them first. This is true for an individual or a country.
We should not be the ones doing the aggression however. That puts us in the wrong.

I am a veteran, and I have spoken to many veterans, and those who have been in actual combat all say the same thing,
"never go to war unless every other means of avoiding war has been exhausted".
War should be the absolute last resort. War should not be undertaken lightly.
Maybe if more of our leaders had actually gone to war, they wouldnt have been so quick to start this one, but then, sociopaths dont care if other peoples children die, human emotion and empathy arent something they are familiar with.

Humans have so many wants and desires. They will get them with or without you by all means. WAR is even conducted by animals. Lions vs Hyenas. Chimps vs Chimps in sorority and even do cannibalization. WAR is also good in thinning out the population. Look at the world now and add how many more people would be here if war did not kill so many. We would be starving.......
All it takes is a few good Humans to sit and watch evil grow.
History repeats itself. What would you do to feed your family or protect them?

When nations can agree to disagree with each other on ideas, values and stances, then there could be peace. It will not happen on earth. We are all tribalistic, nationalistic and greed for whatever reason will always win out.
The Cain and Able syndrome. We have it . We are a part of it.

Peace is not yet possible. We have not evolved that far yet. As long as there are people who seek to take what belongs to others and rule the lives of others there will be war.

Man-kind is essentially a sentinen, bipedal mammal. Mammals are territorial, especially when they are sentinent enough to organise into tribes or clans.
All mammals have wars,it's just we can kill our fellows without ever having to see them, and then feel sympathy and shame over how we did it.
It's human nature,sadly.

Because we end up electing cretins, like George W. Bush, to positions of power. When you do this, it is no wonder why such things as unfettered, unilateral war results.

As long as there is evil on this planet there will be wars. There are actually fewer wars now, we just have more media.
