it means either "gangsta" or
money like a thousand is a grand and grand is usually just called a "G"
so in your first example it probably means gangsta
in the other one I take it to mean money

"If I'm short on them Gs Ima crank up a scale". More than likely the word "G" is short for the word "gram" (i.e. gram of cocaine or other illegal substance that must be weighed on a scale!)
Another example is "I have a pocket full of G's." This means that they have thousands of dollars in their pocket. G would be short for a grand, grand is a slang term for $1000.00. But I'm sure you already knew that!

A " G" is short for a "grand" which is a thousand dollars. So if a guy say he makes a hundred G's, it means he makes a hundred grand or a hundred thousand dollars. So the 2nd exerpt u gave, the guy is talking about being short of big cash.
It can also mean gangsta & in the first exerpt u gave I will need to hear a few more lines to see if he is talking about being surrounded by money or being surrounded by his gangstas. But the most common use is when referring to money

If I am short on them G's Iam crank up a scale. means he is short on money or grand, and he is getting ready to start selling drugs to get his money right. Grand=$1000

and the G in this perticular part of this song stand for thousands like a Grand...i think

"G's" means grands in "Oh Yeah" by Lil Scrappy ft. Sean Paul of the YoungBloodZ and E-40.
I have no idea what it means in the other one but it probably means gansta. I haven't heard the first one.
