just use windows media player 11 from microsoft,you can get it from microsoft web site...it's nice and very light,u don't have to use any other media player.
and get k-lite codecs for it from www.free-codecs.com to get all kind of media extension played with it.

it plays everything right out of the box. even the new mp4 standard format.
