I have said this many times before, but if I were an Iraqi, I would take up arms and defend my life. It is not about fighting for your country anymore. When US soldiers go "door to door" killing anything that moves, it is all about survival. I would do the same here in the US. Were another country to invade, I would take up arms and fight for my life. The problem is that people see people with a different culture and religion and automatically give in to mass media propaganda and consider them terrorists. Why not put yourselves in their places and think about what you might do in the same situation. I guarantee your answer will not be "stand there and get shot".

Ive used this metaphor before:
The US in the 1840s was in real bad shape. Abolitionists were fighting with Slaveholders, people on both sides were being slaughtered for their beliefs, it was a very violent, very schizophrneic time in America's history.
Can you imagine the reaction in the US, had Germany (or even England, whose loss of the colonies still bothered London's head shed and the British psyche) decided to invade us, just to "pacify" the instability so apparnet in America at that time.
Had this happened and I was there, I would immediately forget any squabbles I had with my neighbors and take up arms to repel the invading Germans or British or Whomever. I would do everything I could to build a "Sixth Column" a clandestine resistance movement, designed to use stealth and psych-ops to encourage other citizens to revolt against the invaders as well.
Any American who would roll ovewr and start learning German to better get along with their new masters is no Patriot as far as I am concerned. And anyone who cannot understand why the Iraqis are fighting us so hard, should tell you, at the very least, they either have no INTEREST in democracy and our brand of "freedom", or they as a society are as yet too immature to handle the responsibility of true democracy, either way, it's been 4 years since we invaded, and not only do we not even control all of BAGHDAD yet, many Iraqis living in Baghdad STILL have no electricity or running water! AFTER FOUR YEARS?? Just what is Halliburton DOING with all that money?

We should only fight if it is America being invaded. Otherwise, you must bend over and let us do as we wish. Democracy that is forced on another nation is a waste of our time, resources, and American lives. How many Iraqis appreciate American sacrifices so they don't have to look at Saddam's portrait on every street cover? Very few, in fact. Mostly, they want to see Saddam shooting his pistol from the balcony of the Republican Palace again. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing that again myself (not because he was a great guy, but he knew how to get the job done and keep a country together, which is what the average Iraqi longs for these days).

If these people in Iraq were simply fighting for freedom you might have a point. They're not fighting for freedom, well not the freedom that you think they're fighting for. The last thing they want is a stable government in Iraq, that would make their goal of installing a theocracy much harder to attain. The freedom fighters are there to sow chaos and divide the people of Iraq.

You people are so unbelievably naive. I am just flabbergasted at some of the answers to this and like questions. Wake up and take a long look at the world. But first take off your political colored glasses. You look at these problems like democrat and republican party liners. Pull your head out of the sand and see these people strapping bombs to their children and sending them into a crowd to kill as many as possible, or hiding behind women after shooting up a squad of our troops. Give me a break!!!!!

So, if Germany were suddenly occupied by a foreign country (for giggles, let's say France), Germans would start blowing up their own women and children in a crowded market?
you can't be serious.

The people opposing our forces over there are not trying to defend their country. Many are not even Iraqi. Have you not noticed that they are targeting Iraqi civilians?
Have you not been paying attention or are you just being provocative?

The US is the largest exporter of terrorist methods, agents, munitions and training in the world, they trained up OBL and the Mujahadeen, now theyre reaping what they sowed.
And to those mindless idiots who think Iraqis are killing each other just watch this. It shows Blackwater security - (Bushs private army of mercs) driving around Bagdad shooting Iraqis......

If they invade my USA they will find out very quickly how much I love the USA and my right to keep and bear arms. When I am defending my home and property from the invaders, I don't care what they call me.

well, that notion doesn't apply when we're doing the invading...in that case, the local population is REQUIRED to greet us as liberators and kiss our little tootsies...then, once that's over with, they can go dig their kids out of the rubble for proper burial...
