Not all Americans.. just the jingoists, who have no idea of history and just the talking points they are fed by Faux News... If the truth be known America only entered the war at the very end when the Japanese were in danger of taking over America....

Britain proudly and fatally stood up to the Nazis under their own steam.

If America hadn't gotten into the wars, Britain would've been conquered. And nobody disputes that.

Call it what you want.

ADDENDUM: Honestly, go back and read what Churchill was saying at the time. He was on his knees praying that America would get in the war. And when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Churchill was relieved, because he knew America would get into the war, and that the Allies would win.

He had no illusions and no false pride.

And I'm not insulting the British. Britain has done a whole lot for this world, including being the only country in the world (at one point) who was resisting the Nazis.

But it's a fact. Britain did not have the manufacturing base to keep up with the Germans, nor could they protect their shipping against the U-boats, most notably, enough to import all the material they required. So American manufacturing and shipping helped the British, probably as much as American troops.

Nobody is saying that American troops fought better or were braver.

I think you're picking a fight that nobody wants to fight.

Suggest that the people read the Picture History
of World War II from 1939 -1945 and they'll find
it very interesting. The publishers are Grosset &
Dunlap. The original title of the book: Collier's
Photographic History Of World War II. Americans
did SAVE Great Britain during both wars!!!!!!!!!

First of all, the United States wanted to stay neutral. Second of all, the United States suppplied Britain with guns. Germany almost or did took over France. If they went to war it was because Germany declared war and Japan bombed Pearl Harbor days before. Go to this website and read bullet 1,3, and 4.

Why are you even making an issue of this? Were you alive in the 1940's? As far as I can tell from History Briton was in desperate need, the US joined the alliance and tipped the scales. We have NEVER rubbed it in anyones face. Our history books portray the English as brave and determined in the face of staggering odds. Yes our movies and history focus mostly on the American side of things, but why wouldn't they?

It sounds to me you have some sort of patriotic inferiority complex because your country could not defeat Hitler all by itself, and dislike acknowledging our aid.

"Britain saved itself in the Battle of Britain"

Well actually Hitler (and his stupidity) saved you during the Battle of Britain by switching the focus of his bombing attacks to your cities when you were days away from defeat.

Don't get touchy just because you're not a world power anymore.

And by the way, it was the Russians who saved Europe during World War II (8,000,000 dead).

"What makes you think i'm British."

Because only the British are touchy enough to ask a question like this.

Uh, I can't think of ever hearing any Americans talk about this. Perhaps a WWII veteran might tell us something about the role they played, and certainly they played an important role. But frankly, I doubt if any Americans even remember what happened in WWI, much less who saved who.

Because we did, and if people like you were in the majority in Britain we would regret it. You deserve to be the lamp shade Hitler would have turned you into had America not saved your little island. Soon we will have to save you from the muslim terrorists. Britain is still not able to stand on its own.

I know the US saved Britain in both wars. The Brits could not have defeated Hitler. In WWI, the war just went back and forth until the US entered and won the war in just one year.

see the posts above. Not to mention that we rebuilt Britain and other European countries after the war. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for Britain for holding strong against Hitler, but it was America's involvement that turned the tide of the war.
