Well with HBO, you get a variety of stuff....not just movies, they have comedy shows, boxing matches etc.
With Max, you get 'adult movies' when it get's late(if you're into that)
The rest pretty much show movies...and are pretty equal.

For movies, I recommend Starz, they seem to get the movies first. The premiere movie sometimes months before the HBO and Showtime.

If you like the cable series HBO and Showtime have good original series and documentaries.

The difference is some of their own shows like Entourage. If you are looking for movies they are all the same. The movies just move to a different station each month. Same movies, different channel

HBO is the best. They have the widest variety of programs. It really depends what you are interested in.

In my opinion, Showtime, it always has better movies.

We....... ahem..... my husband has all the channels, duplicate channels even and on demand and netflix and still says there is nothing to watch
