I am getting ready to graduate from college and I would like to take a much needed trip. I have narrowed it down to Thailand and Brazil. I dont have too much money but I want to be able to enjoy myself. For a 22 year old, which place would be more interesting?

I have been to both and Thailand is the most fun. Brazil is good too, but it can get a little edgy at times. I really like the north of Thailand in the Chang Mai area. The whole country is beautiful and there are great things to do and see. Everything from mountains to great beaches. Try the full moon party at Hat Rin. While you are in S.E. Asia hop the border and go to Angkor Wat. Absolutely amazing and it won't cost that much more money. You are looking at 10 bucks a night for hotels and the street stands sell food so cheap that you can live on less that 20 bucks a day. Booze included. Don't worry about the street stands. Pick one with lots of people in it and you are safe. Get a Lonely Planet guide to S.E. Asia and it will give you great hints. If you check your local paper on Sunday the travel section will give you some great prices on tickets. You shouldn't pay more than $1000 round trip and MAKE SURE THAT INCLUDES TAXES. Taxes can eat you up. Vietnam is really cool too. and I have ended up buying a house in Hoian. A beautiful river village on the central coast. We sometimes go to BK and Phonm Phen to blow off steam. There are many temptations. I can't tell you the number of guys that I have met that came on a one week vacation and never went home!!
PS; Bus travel is rediculously inexpensive in Asia. You can go just about anywhere for under 15 bucks. A real experience.

I know nothing about travel in Brazil but imagine it would be great. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand from 1991 - 1993. My personal prejudice is Thailand. There is plenty to do for a 22 year old as well as an older person. If you like to rough it a bit safely, Thailand is for you. Avoid most of the tourist sites and begin to explore less well traveled areas. A good idea is to try to connect with Peace Corps volunteers to stay with so you can get a better feel for the country and travel different places that you could never see any other way.

Brazil is a great u . s . so it relies upon on the place in Brazil you prefer to bypass. Crime is undesirable in Rio and you would be able to't ever bypass away your shield down, even on the sea coast. at an identical time as i've got not been, you would be able to attempt someplace like Salvador for his or her sea coast. i like Rio yet am not as comfortable as in Thailand. Brazilians talk Portuguese inspite of the shown fact that in the time of maximum vacationer components human beings talk English. while you're an American, you decide on a visa to shuttle to Brazil (which expenses approximately US$ 70 final time I have been given one). individually, i might head for Phuket in case you have not been there earlier.
