Earth is a huge, complex system. While we do have some impact on our own corners of the planet, Earth is mostly doing its own thing in the big picture.
For our own good and the good of our children we need to reduce air and water pollution and use resources sustainably.

The earth will survive no matter what we do. There has been many periods of massive extinctions many times over millions of years and the earth always recovers
we may not survive though

The planet doesn't care what scums its surface year to year. The planet exists on a different timescale altogether.
