I would like to have some kind of fish in my out side urn / planter pot. What kind of fish is the best and what kind of set up do I need for fish to be healthy? Why some inside Gold fish are OK with tiny vase and water without pump or filter? Anyway, can I just throw some kind of fish in my urn / planter pot and will be OK?

To be honest goldfish kept in small containers without filters are not ok. They are suffering from poor fishkeeping practices and will die an early death. The set up you described in your last question is perfectly ok for certain types of fishes. If it is a fairly large urn, gold fish will do quite well. If you can take the fish inside when it starts getting cooler, many tropical fish will do well in your set up. If you will need to leave the fish outside year round you will want to stick with fish that can take the cold, such as goldfish white clouds or native fishes to name a few. A big part in selecting fish that can live to adult size and be healthy year round is the size of the container. If you can add that to your question and we can help much more.

Goldfish grow as big as koi and need just as huge a space. The oldest living goldfish is 18" long. The oldest recorded over two feet. They are not ok in those tiny bowls people in them - they always die very prematurely. They can live for decades in the right place, yet people seem proud to keep them alive for two years.

Koi are good fish to have cuz they are hearty and can live up to 100 years old.
