I have a 94' ford tempo, i am experiencing the car shutting off while im driving. I had someone check it out for me and he told me it could be the fuel pump, someone else told me to put it on the machine to find out if its that. sometime the car shuts off while driving, i would pull over, wait about 15 minutes then it would start again, what is wrong with my car?

This happens shortly after I start driving the car.

You need to understand what the check engine light is telling you first. Everything else is pure guesswork. I would agree that it sounds electrical but holy cow - this is the kitchen sink. Get you diagnostic codes checked - everybody says goto auto zone. Then type in your diagnostic code information on this site and you will get a lot help. Else- goto a qualified garage and they will do this step for you. Autozone is a lot cheaper.

I read this same question about 3 or 4 months ago. It sounds like a bad temp sensor. It defiantly sounds electrical. Have it checked out by a ford authorized service center who can do a computer diagnostic test on it.

Need some more info on what/when it occurs. Does it happen after you have been driving for a while, or shortly after you start? Any service lights on (check engine light) or does it happen after you've stopped or before?

I could be that your fuel filter needs to be replaced, air filter needs to be replaced or maybe gunk in the fuel lines. Also if it is fuel injected the injectors could be clogging up.

sounds like an ignition module, they work fine till they get hot then they quit, let it cool off and it works again. any good shop can test for you or you could take it off and down to auto parts store and they can check it out
