Being a true conservative.. yep, I do. I don't spend over my limit, I conserve energy, I own a business and have for years and never overextended myself. I have one credit card and it's paid for in full when the bill comes in. I own four vehicles (they are paid for). My home will be paid off in one year.
Simply stated, if I can't afford it, I don't buy it! :) Will I live a decent retirement? You bet, I went without to guarantee that when the time comes, I wouldn't need the federal government to depend on.
No need to thank me for being bright, frugal, looking ahead and not using your tax dollars. I'm proud to be a TRUE American!

I think I get your point. Conservative people are normally hard working, family oriented, God fearing and not wasteful since pretty much all they have they had to earn. To this day I am turning off unnecessary lights, not driving if I don't have to clipping coupons.
We have raised our kids and have a nice house but believe me it was a struggle. We have only just recently started to travel for vacations. Even still, we expend a great deal of effort finding bargains.
So, yes. I believe conservatives are less wasteful than many liberals. I don't waste water but not because I like to hug trees but because I have to pay for it.
Conservative also means frugal.

You sound a lot like me when I first became interested in politics. Great revelations followed by discovery (frequently that I was wrong, or more correctly, not 100% accurate). Be careful using too broad of a brush while painting conservatives. I do not believe there needs to be new checks, the constitution is ample enough for these purposes. What needs to stop is legislation from the bench in the supreme court. Keep reading and keep learning and don’t restrict yourself to only one side of the political spectrum. Read it all with objective clarity.

The problem is that liberals are focused upon micro-conservation, which I am, too. I recycle all that I can, but I don't allow it to be my focus or, my claim to worthiness. Small things are important, but it's the preservation of our nation that should be our focus.

You would think so, but probably not. Conservatives really need to think about what they used to stand for.

I think you are confused as to what a Conservative is. It is a name that refers to the conservative values that they hold.
