I bought an s-video to s-video cable, and connected it. But I can't get the TV to display the computer screen. Is there something I need to change in the control panel?

try rebooting with the s cable attached and the tv on.

I have an rca cable going from my comp to my tv. it works great. but I do have the same problem you do, if I boot up without the rca plugged into the tv at that time.

You need to keep the Fn key down and then press F5 to get the display combination you want on the TV. If that key doesn't work, try pressing Fn and keeping down the F8 key, or some other key. For my computer, it's Fn + F5.

in order to get to the computer screen on your tv, you have to go to the control panel on your computer, and click on personalizations,then click on connect to projector or other external display display,in that window click on the the icon that says connect display, then that should get you desktop display to show up on the tv

Doesn't work like that. You need a signal converter. They cost about $60 and can be bought at and electronics store (not Radio Shack, a real one). I got one and am most happy.
