I am assuming that this was a used car.

A private seller does not have to disclose prior damage. A dealer would have to tell you about damage that they repaired while they owed the vehicle, but if it was previously repaired damage they may not even know about it. When someone trades in a car, they are trying to get top dollar for it. They are not going to tell the dealer anything that could be used to reduce the price they get!

Did you have the car checked by your own mechanic prior to purchase? If not, why not? If you did and your mechanic did not find a problem with the repair, you have nothing to worry about!!

They are not obliged to tell you this information, as long as the vehicle is in roadworthy condition.

These days you would be lucky to find a vehicle that has not been involved in an accident.

When buying a used car, unless there is a written statement saying otherwise,it's buyer beware.Realistically, the only recourse is to bluff the seller in to thinking you've got a lawyer and are going to sue.
