I have to say this in confidence that someone else out there feels the way I do... I have a lot of trouble in understanding how you can be a conservative or liberal. How on earth can you have a side on an issue without hearing the issue. It seems like people like to say there one or the other without any ral idea of whats going on.... I believe this in part because of great presidents of the past they are pretty equally split parties... Also other few points I have... conservatives = how can you be for the death penalty and against abortion..... . In closing it is just distessing to me that you can have your life values and veiws decided by political parties and not by looking at the acctual issue and making your own desicion on which has moral value and will help our country globally? opinions please

I was always under the impression it was the other way around. People chose their party because that party best represents their own beliefs and their position in life.

Immigration and the war may be two issues where this is not the case. That may be why there is such a problem in deciding how to handle them among our government representatives.

I think people do tend to look at the issues.

It is more of a political or world view ideology. For example, some people are simple against war - for any reason and for whatever consequences may result - diplomacy, appeasement and negotiations with absolutely no alternatives - and these people are generally grouped with the liberals.
I fail to see any conflict with being for the death penalty and against abortion. If you choose to commit crimes against other people that merit the death penalty, so be it. How does that draw any parallel to abortion of a fetus that has yet to even draw a breath?
I believe the last Nov. elections pretty much discredits any contention that people are truly party loyal rather than issue oriented.

The way things are being run right now, I don't think the republicans are decent people. I have my own opinion.

what? No i don't agree, i mean just because the two sides of the coin don't represent your beliefs fully does not mean they don't represent someone else's beliefs fully

Ahhh, its not that simple.
People are generally of a liberal nature or of a conservative style nature, that doesn't mean they can't hold opposing views it just means what they generally feel.

No.
You only stated half of your premise:
You "don't understand how conservatives would want to kill murderers, and save babies".

But.... you must understand why liberals want to save the lives of murderers, but enjoy killing babies.
