Do you really think there are a lot of plastic surgeons hanging around on yahoo? I don't think so. But fortunately, there are a few people who know something about this general subject.

First, you must be an MD before you can start training to be a surgeon. So, you must go through four years of college, taking all the prerequisite courses to apply to med school. You must take the MCAT tests (like SATs only much harder) and do some other requirements. If you are lucky enough to get into med school then you can work really hard for four years, get your MD degree and apply to be accepted as a surgical resident. Training for that takes about 5 to 7 years. So when you finish you will be over 30 years old - probably closer to 35.

Yes, you will make a LOT of money. But you will deserve it.

So, good luck with the first step - getting into a top college so that you can have a good shot at getting into med school. If you are a VERY good student and have iron will power, then you will have a chance to fulfill this dream.

It's incredibly difficult to get into a good med school, and extremely demanding once you are in. You will have to take a lot of biology and chemistry in undergrad to prepare for it, then spend a long time in med school, and then a long time as an intern, resident, etc. You could make a lot of money at the end of the road, but it is a very difficult path that not everyone can do.

Not in case your important difficulty is how much cash you'll be able to earn. It takes a protracted, very long time to grow to be licensed in plastic surgical procedure and you would want greater than cash as your incentive for the lengthy hours, top cost, and years of quite low pay as a resident.
