you show up your ex's wedding based on the assumption that the invitation was lost in the mail and you are subsequently handcuffed and "ushered" out. The first time it happened I thought it was kind of funny. Now it's just getting embarrassing.

This actually happened to me! Except I wasn't handcuffed and ushered out, there was just an almighty scene.
And I WAS invited - as the best man's date.
