I was leagally adopted by my stepfather when I was 3 and I have no memories of my biological father. I have always wanted to make contact but been too scared. I am so glad I have done it and so is he. I don't know what to expect now, any one any similar experience?

Similar in that I am 33 at the moment and I found out when I was 19 that my 'father' was not my real or biological father. I have been thinking for some time about contacting him and I think I should but had never made that step. I am glad that you are happy you have done so and I think I will. I just need to pick up that phone.
Well done though.

My daughter made contact with her father who had ignored her for years and years and she found that she had nothing in common with him and didn't even like him! She's still in touch with him but only to keep the peace with her grandparents(his mum and dad), but is glad that she met him again and "got it out of her system" so to speak. If i had the choice they would never have lost contact(by the way) that was his decision.

well then you should get to know your real father and ask him questions so that it won't bother you inside but just don't forget about your stepfather because he did take care of you and he took you in as his daughter so you should make it work with both because it might not have been his fault that you got adopted
