A career is never a guarantee. It all depends on you. How well do you interview? Do you present yourself as a friendly and knowledgeable person? Someone they can seewould be easy to work with? You could have more talent than anyone else, but if you don't present yourself well in the audition... no one will ever give you the chance to show it. My advice is not to wait for college. Start now. Community theatre, regional, school productions, whatever is available to you!

Just audition as much as possible, take classes now if you can. For audition info. you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying. Just search for the theatre's own website, they should have the audition info there.

Good luck!

It's a chancy thing no matter what. The thing about acting degrees is that it garuntees you nothing. Just because you have a degree in acting or theater or whatever doesn't mean you'll get work as an actor. A lot of people end up going into teaching because of it. The only way you can have a career in acting is to work at it, audition regularly and be prepared for rejection.

its always chancy...especially acting. I would suggest a double major if you can. Music and acting AND something else you are interested in.

Two things - Retail and Vomiting. If you can work in retail and vomit your guts out you can act.
