Try freezing the gum by putting ice on it for a few minutes then pick it off or by putting the garment in the freezer and picking it off. Either of the two should do the trick. I learn this as it happens everyday at the school I work and the kids I teach!

Freeze it, then use cooking oil applied only to the parts in contact. If you have access to dry ice, this would work better. Getting the oil out might require ethylene glycol (this can be found in most spray stain removers)

ice will help the gum to harden and peel off-with some effort
i have also heard of peanut butter helping to break down the consistency, but am unsure of the end result
