yes. look at how widespread PCs are now. its all because of bill gate's strategic moves.

He's also the richest man in the world. I think that says a lot.

I don't really care for his moves, but I would like to check out his pad. I'm sure he's got all kinds of cool toys

I'm not an apple nor microsoft fanboy, be4 any1 makes any decisions on what i say.

Microsoft nicked the Apple GUI, made it better and brought home computing to the world for the average joe. They haven't done much else, nd neither has apple (its iPod is nothing good, it just looks pretty gud). Microsoft also has created, wot would seem from a non developers point of view, an easier platform on which to create applications, games etc.

Besides this, nothin much

Used to be you could go to local outlets and buy software for your computer that was dirt cheap, say like 5-20 dollars. Gates put all of them out of business with his Windows Operating System, and pretty much created a monopoly. A lot of these mom and pop shops that used to sale original software for unique purposes went out of business. Bill standardized computers, so that everything revolved around Microsoft. Nothing could compete with Windows, because it came with all the "basics". Now software costs hundreds of dollars, but everything is uniform.
