Didn't Canada at one time have a debate on whether French or English should be the national language? I believe that divided quite a few provinces.

wow,.. sure lots of arrogance around here.. I am canadian and rather insulted by the previous comments... what would you think if someone said that about your country. .. and there were many major events during that time. you are right about the french english thing creating an uproar.. Quebec held a referendum as to whether or not to separate from the rest of canada.. instead they were granted "distinct society" status to recognize their uniqueness.. Also a new territory was formed nunavut... check any of them out on the web..
