16x/(x+12)=1 multiply by x+12
16x=x+12
15x=12
x=12/15=4/5
checking the math
16 (4/5)/(4/5+12) -1=0
64/5/(4/5+60/5)=1
(64/5)/(64/5)=1 checks out

16x/(x+12) - 1 = 0
multiply through by (x+12) (the function is undefined if x = -12)
16x - (x+12) = 0
15x = 12
x = .8

add one

subtract x
divide by 12..
