Do you take into account a movie critic's opinion in choosing a film to watch or are you your own judge?

No I dont. Many movies that I like they say arent even worth going to see. When they say one is fantastic, that doesnt always mean anything either. Cant go by what they say! I think they get a cut out of promoting certain movies!

I don't really pay much attention to reviews unless it's a review by someone OTHER then a movie critic. Why? Because movie critics are normally wrong. Movies critics say sucked are usually good, and movies critics say were good are usually A) bad, B) boring, or C) all of the above. Reviews by the people, for the people are often more accurate in how the movie will be recieved because it tells how the 'common person' likes it.

It really depends on the movie.

Some movies that I really want to see, like FF:2, I might read a review or two, but I'm still going to see it regardless of what any critic says. I feel that way about most action/comic book related films!

But I do read/watch Roger Ebert and Richard Roper for their movie reviews.

I don't always agree with them, but they both do a good job explaining why they like or dislike a film and I can decipher whether or not, from their criticisms, whether the flaws will bother me or not.

And movies that I have chosen to see solely on a good review they gave, haven't disappointed me yet!

no, i don't value their opinions--and the reason is this.

reviewer A can love a film--reviewer B can hate that same film.

simply put, what it comes down to is that movie reviews are based on opinion. everyone can have an opinion and they aren't right or wrong, they are that person's opinion.

and why should i trust the opinion of someone that i don't even know?

If I'm determined to see a film, I don't want to read too much about it ahead of time. If I'm not sure, I'll look at a review or two online. My local paper has a lousy movie reviewer and I won't read a word he writes.

If their opinions are all the same, I'll usually wait and rent the movie they all hate. But if there's mixed reviews, I consider seeing a movie in the theatre more.

So overall, yes, I do value them somewhat.

No, I don't care about them. For example I believe that Almodovar's film are rubbish, but they like them.

I prefer to have my own opinion, I don't like some artsy fartsy person to choose for me.

I think they get paid to help a movie make it... so i'm my own judge.

No. Movie critics should suffer and die.
