1988 is R 12,can you still buy that stuff at parts stores?,but to answer your question,large is low side,small line is high

im not sure about a grand prix but my sunfire has 2 pressure lines and i just recharged my A/C so its the one that is closest to the passenger seat toward the windshield of the car.
