I am really into pens since being an auditor. They become the one thing you have to carry at work or you would be lost on your job. A expensive pen makes your letters look better and they are easier to write with.

Personally, the pens I like to use are either the roller ball or the gel ink pens because the ink is brighter, and doesn't fade as quickly as regular ballpoints. I buy the Uniball Vision, the Pilot V Razorpoint, Uniball Vision Exact, and the Uniball Onyx most often.
Some websites I've found with reasonable prices--www.dickblick.com (has the Sarasa Gel pens in a set of 10 for $11.99, or about $1.20 each; and the Precise V5/extra fine point, set of 7 for $11.99 or $1.71 each); www.quillcorp.com (Sarasa Gel pens, set of 10, for $10.99; and Sunburst Gel Rollerball, 5 pack for $5.99); www.shopatron.com (Gelly Roll pens, dark metallic colors in 5 colors for $6.45 or $1.29 each; and 5 hot metallic colors for $6.45 or 10 pack for $12.90). Then there are your local Staples, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. that have good pen selections. Just depends on what you want to use them for or want to spend. The Uniball pens have a see-through area so you can tell how much ink you have left.

I've had MORE luck with a 29 cent bic or Papermate than with the expensive pens.

Cheap pens are more comfortable to write with and if I lose it.........i get another one.

I like a good ball point, but around here if I can find one that just writes its a miracle.
