When my Husband and I were first married I had a budget of $65 a month. And it is possible. The tricks of the trade are...

1) Always clip coupons from Sunday newspapers. Usually when there is a coupon in the paper the stores will also have it discounted at the store, to encourage people to use them. So, its extra savings.

2) Then buy in large sizes, its always cheaper. Exp: Get the big mayo vs the smaller size. You might spend a little more upfront but as a whole, it will last you younger for cheaper.

3) Stock up on food storage and supplies. Including water, toliet paper, tampons, shampoos, deorderant, etc. When there is a real good sale, then buy more than one.... like 3 for $10. Buy all 3. (food storage is also a really good thing to have, not only for a natural disaster but also in case of financial hardships). Include bleach in your kit for storage (incase of a natural disater you can use it to wash your hair, put it in toliets that aren't able to flush, and to keep things sanatary). I always get 10 cans of something thats on sale, like chef boy-r-d or mac and cheese. Its a really good deal if you can get them 50 cents a can, which I have done.

4) Find stores that are closing in your area and take advandage of the discounted prices.

5) Shop at walmart. They will honor everyone's ad (Exp. if fry's milk is $1.75 a gallon, show them the ad and thats how much your get your milk for). And they also take counpons. So, its a really good deal.

6) Don't buy anything packedged like the bag salads or the pre-cut fruit. It's also cheaper to buy those things and do it yourself.

I think 100 a month is too low. Maybe 150 or 175. That is still cheaper than if one person has a 6 dollar meal once a day everyday.

Think one person having a six dollar meal everyday for a month is 180 dollars (give or take)...

If you make a light lunch with snacks - you can save a lot of money. A homemade sandwhich, piece of fruit and granola bar and chips or carrots - then pack pretzels or cheese for a snack...You can buy up all of those products for probably about $20 and it would be enough to last each of you 2 work weeks.

Eggs are a great and cheap breakfast. Throw in some green peppers, onions, red peppers and sandwich ham and make it an omlette... with toast - very cheap.

There are ways you can cut back...I'm not sure about 100.00 a month. But you can def stock up on meats when they are on sale and freeze them...use coupons always! They come in the paper or mail every week.
Then you can creativly use meals for 2 dinners like a 5$ rotisary chicken, you can eat the chicken with a can of veggies and pasta roni that is 10/10. And then you can heat up the chicken and throw it in salad wraps (wraps that you may use for lunch meat wraps) or quesadeas.

Me and my roomated get a britta water filter pichter, and I get crystal light packets and give it flavor, and this saves on drinks.
Then if you get pasta and tuna onsale thats lunch and dinner one day and theres always left overs. And then bread and deli meat will last a week for lunches.
(good deals on cans of pasta as well sometimes that are good for lunch such as beeforoni)
A whole bottle of bread crubs is 1.00, and then cheap chix. Theres a meal, with cans on veggies and pasta roni.
Hot dogs are and easy cheap meal.
And cassaroles last three days, it take alot to make them but you can always eat a little, have it another day, freeze it and take it out next week and eat the rest.

Those are my suggestions, trying to eat cheap is not always yummy but it's all worth it to save a little money.

Start cutting coups and goodluck! Look for deals they help alot!

yes it passable but not fun. As other people said you would be eating allot of noodles and have to use allot of coupons. I feed four people on around 300 a month and were very carefull with the budget but i don't think we can get much lower than that.

I doubt it. I am a single and live alone. I can barely eat on $100/month myself. I've been told by coworkers they don't believe I manage that. I assume any 2 people eat more that I do.

$100 a month for two people? Only if you live on pasta and rice and nothing else. Figure 50-75 a week minimum.

$100 a month sounds pretty severe. I mean, sure, you CAN do it if you eat ramen, but I'm not sure that most people would have the self-discipline to do it.

It would be very difficult, but not impossible.

It might be easier to either earn more, or figure out exactly where it is that your money all goes!

That would be about $1.67 per person per day. You would need some serious coupons to do that.
