The library is full of books on depression, as are the book stores. You should inform and educate yourself to better deal with what's going on with your husband.

But the bigger issue is: Is he getting help for his depression? Is he in counseling, or taking meds, or seeing a mental health counselor? I do hope so. And if he isn't, then please, try to get him to the doctor to start a program of help.

If he is seeking help for his depression, I'm sure the counselor could recommend some reading material for you. In fact, I'm sort of surprised that he or she has not counseled with you already, or provided some information.

Depression sure takes its toll on everyone, doesn't it?

While your husband certainly needs help, so do you. Have you considered talking to someone yourself? Churches sometimes have excellent programs run by professionals and people who are trained to deal with family crises.

Good luck.

A person can not read their way out of depression. He needs counseling..He needs someone to talk to and someone who will listen....Find it at a church, meetups.com, local support group, through school or work, wherever it is available to you....He will also need support from friends and family....Nothing hurts more than when a family member or friend gives up on you--that sucks!! He doesn't need anyone to tell him their too busy...That alone could push a person over the edge...GET A COUNSELOR!! At least THEY will listen, they get paid for it!! It works and it helps!!

I think the best thing is to get in to see someone about what is going on.
