I have created a slope in one corner of my garden and I have planted flowers on it. However, I would like to cover the area with golden gravel....is this possible?

Yes it is. You need a retainer of some sort. Either Timber, concrete edgings.
The timber needs to be sunk in the ground by about an inch and use stakes to hold it in place. Make sure the timber is tanalised(preservative) and rough sawn.
Concrete edgings come in various shapes and sizes and again need to sunk and laid on a concrete base. 4xsand to 1xcement mix.
Lay it on a weed depressing membrane.

you dont say how much of a slope you have , but yes you can
dep on slope lay a weed suppresant and then buy a liquid called cold grip major building splrs should have it pour this on and spread it out its thick, give it 15 mins then cover with your gravel use a smoothing trowl and push the gravel into the grip it sort of hardens holding the gravel

yes

if the slop is at a strong angel use some chicken wire to stop gravel from sliding down, also but down some ground cover to stop weeds from coming up, the best one is called mypex will not rot after a year or so

I think rain will wash small pieces of gravel away and maybe even watering will do the same thing. Terracing (steps) will help keep it in place but that takes a lot of work like digging, etc. Stones the size of golf balls or larger, like river rocks, would stay in place better.

In a word, yes. ~
Depends on the slope and the size of the gravel.

Yes of course but please don't forget to use a weed represent fabric cover first to stop the weeds popping through it is really cheap stuff and will save you hours of weeding and an unsightly garden
