You heart is embraced by this 50 yr. old woman here as I understand your concerns. I was once a 16 yr. old and had the same concerns / wonders as you.
I'm a native born and raised Californian. I was 13 in 1969, In the 1950's and 1960's I grew up seeing families building bomb shelters in their backyard due to the threat of the Russians bombing us. There was the peace movement of the " hippies ", the women's lib marches, leaders being assassinated (John F. and Robert Kennedy's, Martin Luther King etc.), child abductions, drug concerns, Vietnam Way, blacks couldn't drink from the same water fountains or eat at same tables as whites, they had to sit in the back of the bus, the threat of " Big Brother" watching over us all (which has come to pass today), a president (Nixon) leaving office as he was found guilty for unlawful acts (Watergate).
The point I'm making is that over centuries throughout the world. . . something was always found to have threat or concern with...that the world was turning into a terrible place.
I was 16 once...and since that time I've experienced growth, awareness, love, marriage, having three children, learning to celebrate my own inner strength and joy of life. Life is a joy glitches and all. It's a journey...your own soul path journey.
My suggestion is to look back at history...their concerns of decades or centuries back and see where we are today. Perfect ? No. . . Yet all is moving in a more unified peaceful direction.
All is settling in place as it's meant to occur...have faith dear heart and live a true heart...even with all going around us.

no, the world is alot better than its been and no it is NOT headed out of control. I do believe i had the same panic sessions when i was younger. Every thing that happens seems novel but really its not. Read up on history, talk to your parents and grandparents (if they are reasonable and not stuck up on the "good ol' days) to get a better perspective on life. But no it is not spinning out of control. Think how much you would have paniced if you were around in the 1910s, 1920s around the time of the 1st world war when everything changed for most people and security wasn't something they took for granted like we do now. The economy wasn't that great and every tom dick and harry did not own the latest tech stuff. Most people died of ordinary staph infections because they did not have any antibiotics etc etc. Put things in a better perspective and put an end to the panic attack

Can you think about what it was like ten years ago and what you thought the "world" would be like in ten years? Should you learn to use that crystal ball, you would make some sweet coin! Every generation is told that things are out-of-control! This is not the first time, and it won't be the last time you hear this.
This has become a manner in which the media look to convince you that things are going-to-pot, and that you need to "change" things. Remember Tricky-Dick? Well, you may not, and this is being written by someone who was less than five years old while RMN was president. Don't fret! You aren't the first, and you won't be the last. You MAY be the first to lament about it on YA, however! *grin*

I'll be 40 and I'm beginning to finally sound like my parents! But, the things I've witnessed are downright scary. I believe that we are close to the end. The Bible says that in the latter days: people will travel to and fro-couldn't do that back then; that people will be proud of what they should be ashamed of-now for sure; that the gospel of Christ has to be spread to the whole world-now for sure; that there will be an increase of knowledge as never before existed-now for sure (computers, transplants, space flight, cloning, etc...); that Israel will get their country back-May 5, 1948; that the generation that sees the re-establishment of the state of Israel will see the end-what is a generation? A 100 years-2048; that Israel will get Jerusalem back when the time of the gentiles is fulfilled-1967; trading will be done as never before-now for sure; that evil will increase but so will goodness to fight the evil-now for sure; people will be marrying and giving in marriage-now for sure; that in the armed conflict in the Valley of Megiddo (armegeddon) a third of mankind is killed instantly and another third dies from famine and pestilence-nuclear war; that a 200 million man army descends on Israel-Muslims. I believe we as a country and indeed the whole world is very fragile, and quite frankly, I do believe the end is near. Plus, in my own life, it is amazing how rude and uncivil people have become, just in the last 20 years. They have no respect for themselves or anyone else for that matter-no shame whatsoever and no consideration for others at all.

There is good and evil in and around all countries and I think that the majority of all evil tries to rule the world and not have anybody survive, in 10 years from now if the evil takes over we will not have a world, However the good in people should wise up and take notice and fight for our country and destroy the evil around us, Soo the more we are good citizens the more a better world we will be in, and in 10 years from now, We will all be angels, and the devils will be downunder

This world has been out of control long before you were born hun. Just do your part as not only a citizen of whatever country you're from, but also as a good human being. There's far too many of the other sort and that's why this world is as screwed up as it is.
