me and hubby were talking about this just last night cos we were watching the complete 2nd series of the royal family and the smash martians were mentioned on there. hubby told me it was once made by cadbury. i never knew that.

They observed the humans making mashed potato by peeling the potatoes then boiling them for 20 of their earth minutes then "smashing them all to pieces". Then they'd roll about on the floor laughing their little metal heads off as they used Smash, added a little boiling water and had mash in a matter of moments.

I remember the Smash potato aliens - they were wonderful. I didn't know they came from Mars. I loved there huge wide mouths

Yes and I didn't realise how funny they were until I saw them the other day on t.v. It was a programme about greatest adverts.They were hilarious.

Yup, they used to give me the fear, actually. I think it was their empty, lifeless eyes, coupled with that unearthly cackling laugh. Much preferred the PG Tips chimps.
