I'm 100% for the legalization of prostitution and believe it's okay. Let's face it, that's the only way some guys will ever get laid and I everyone should have that experience. Sometimes there's guys who are just born shy and unconfident and should'nt be penalized for it. Think about it, if you're not good with numbers and finances, you pay an accountant to balance your books and do your taxes. If you're not good with mechanics, you pay a mechanic to fix your car. So if you're not good with sexuality and such, you should be able to pay a prostitute to provide you with sex and pleasure. Making it legal would benefit the prostitutes as well as they'd have free routine medical check ups, no pimps (which abuse them), and overall will make their "workplace" a much safer one. Look at places like Holland, were prostitutes have unions and such. Besides, why should you not be allowed to sell something you can give away for free.

I've been drinking with a prostitute in the past, she's Really nice and enjoys her job!
It is the oldest profession in the world and some believe that they perform a function in reducing crime. If they were not there as a 'release' there may be more sexually motivated crime!
I have seen documentaries on the better class working girls and they make a hell of a lot more money than I could for the same amount of time.
I guess it boils down to self respect.... if you can do that work and keep that respect then it's Ok. Personally I couldn't!
But I respect those who choose that path!
It is also important to remember that others are forced into 'selling' themselves, for various reasons, and I hope that they could all remain safe.

Well...me myself i think that, if you are adult you must have the right to do what you want but just if you are able to take your responsibilities. Here in Italy, some prostitutes went to strike for the mayor decides to fine their client. The prostitutes decided to make free sex with those who had been caught by the police. I think on a how, things should be clear and clean, that means, houses for those girls, here are called "closed homes": you may have an assistance and your clients may be more relaxed. At the same time you can pay your tax and stay away from problems. But with the excuse of the church they don't want to re-open those homes. I think a prostitute has even a social function for those men that don't make sex for long period, for ugly men, with som handicap, for people that simply want to say something but aren't heared enough!Did u know that a lot of men go to the prostitute just for talking? So i strongly believed that if the Government was less hypocrite, it should regulate them, letting this job more respectable. After all, each one has his own sense of respect, shame and dignity. Many corrupted men or killers are even well considered in this strange society!

whether or not prostitution is wrong really depends on the situation. if a woman is forced into having sex with money because she is part of a sex trade, and if she hates it, that is wrong. if she enjoys it, its not wrong - as long as she is not spreading diseases. this means that she should be using protection, not having oral, and getting tested for HIV. and not having sex if she has HIV. you are most likely to become a prostitute if you need money and dont have qualifications/ abilities to get a job for the money you need. i think its unlikely that the work is often rewarding. sometimes it would be, if it is done in a respectful way, and if its about making the client feel better - but unlikely if youre hanging around bars and stuff, just trying to make money. i had sex with one woman, who i paid. i had no idea she would do that, because i approached her, and i only found out at the last minute. i didnt feel like it was wrong at all. we were both caring and gentle with eachother. im actually still in contact with her, just as a friend. she doesnt consider herself a prostitute - she doesnt hook on street corners, but if approached by men, sometimes shell have sex for money. this is an example of a circumstance where i dont think it was wrong.
interesting question btw

There is nothing wrong with the basic idea but it is the way the business is carried on that causes problems. I have friends who practise prostitution but they done stand on street corners a ply for trade. It is the girls who work in the street which cause problems and this could be minimised by proper licensing and control.

Prostitutes hate what they do and the people they do it for. They do it for the money, believe me. The whole "Pretty Woman" thing is an insult to the intelligence of the viewing public.
Of course it's wrong to demean both the person and the act of sex. It has been considered a commodity for millenia but that doesn't mean that's what it was created for. No one is a toy or an object to be used and tossed aside at will.
Rewarding? Are you for real? No money can replace your self-respect or your dignity.

I do not think that is right, however, I am certain that people don't jsut decide to become a prostitute. It can often be an act of desperation and it is a necessity to make ends meet!

Prostitution is wrong because the body is used as a tool for lust-not for love or procreation. You become a prostitute when you offer your services for money or other gain. Rewarding?-some think so at first but your sin will find you out and there is pleasure in sin for a season but then-whack-you get hit and punished. People who aren't spiritual though, do not understand what is happening to them. No sin goes unpunished-don't let someone tell you otherwise. It may look that way to us but it isn't that way really.

In itself it is not "wrong" as such, but the issues that surround it (people trafficking, drugs, HIV) make it problematic.
A funny story though: A few years ago I was working at a now defunct IT company and one of the women I was working with used to be a prostitute. She left to go back on the game, explaining to the boss "the money is better, the hours a re better and YOU GET F*CKED LESS!"

There's nothing wrong with prostitution. It's nothing but another "money for service" transaction--people think that just because the service is sex, that makes it any different (and that stems from a misplaced 'sanctity' in sex that isn't really there. It's just sex, guys--it's not any more 'sacred' than eating is). It doesn't.
In fact, considering that the drive for sex is so strong, it could very arguably be considered a more important service than most other things. With regulation and standardization, it would be perfectly safe (for both the buyer and seller), likely more afforable too because there'd be no black market (same thing would happen if drugs were legalized). Simple economics.
In the words of the great George Carlin:
"Selling is legal. F.ucking is legal. Why isn't selling f.ucking legal?!"
