They made them themselves. Clothing manufacture was no mystery to the ancient Geeks or Romans.

The major steps in the manufacture of clothes are four: first to harvest and clean the fiber or wool; second, to card it and spin it into threads; third, to weave the threads into cloth; and, finally to fashion and sew the cloth into clothes.

When settled *neolithic cultures* discovered the advantages of woven fibers over animal hides, the making of cloth, *drawing on basketry techniques,* emerged as one of humankind's fundamental technologies. The principles of turning vegetable fiber into cloth have remained constant: Plants are cultivated and the fiber harvested. The fibers are cleaned and aligned, then spun into yarn or thread. Finally the yarns are interwoven to produce cloth.

They wove cotton and wool into cloth and draped themselves with the wide swatches. I can't think of a link. It would not be efficient to import cloth from anywhere in those days. By the way, the Assyrians were long gone, having bewen replaced first by the Persians and then by Seleucus and the successors of Alexander.

Under the circumstances, "Sum 1 made them." is actually a pretty accurate answer, and you should award the points to that poster. It's just that som eone made them for themselves.
