I am trying to install a rust proofing device on my car. The installation instructions says that for CT-1 [the type of unit I am installing] black wire goes to the body ground (firewall).

My question is where is the body ground. Do they mean the -ve terminal of the battery. The reason I doubt that it is not the negative terminal is bacause for another type of unit CT-2 [that I am not installing] they specifically mention that black goes to -ve terminal. So this probably mean body ground is different from -ve terminal of the battery.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The site of the manufacturer is http://www.counteractrust.com

any place on the body will do for this one,all the body is a ground on that car,so all you have to do is tie in with any existing ground wire and that will be good enough, there's a lot of ground points on it ,any one of them will work good, for that ,good luck with it.

That would be a anywhere a screw is screwed into the metal of the body like the firewall or strut towers or negative terminal or cable of the battery if it's close. Test with a test light from the positive battery terminal to whatever screw you're going to use.

alot of cars have a grounding strap from the frame to the body/firewall. You can simply unscrew something that on the firewall and tie in there or drill a small hole and screw a ring connector to it.
